A Story To Be Told

Image
Happy New Year to you all!   Come and join in with the new challenge over at Lavinia Stamps; this month the theme is “A Story to be Told”.  I’m sure we all have a story or two following Christmas and the New Year!   I hope my card “Timeless Beauty” helps to encourage and inspire you to join in this month’s Challenge.     Audrey Hepburn once said “for beautiful eyes  look for the good in others, for beautiful lips speak only words  kindness, and for poise walk with the knowledge you are never alone.” Alura  is a beautiful stamp to colour; once you start you’ll be amazed at the details you will find.  She truly is a timeless beauty! I have also used  Whimsical Wisp  and the wonderful  See a Fairy  script in the background.   Firstly, I used a white wax crayon to create the white highlights on Alura once she had been stamped in Clair Nocturne (Versafine black).  The white crayon acts as a resist for the ink.  Don’t worry if the wax marks look dirty or makes the ink look like it’s smudged.

It's April! Well the “showers” are winning on the weather front so far!  I might even trade my car for a boat!  This month’s Lavinia Stamps competition is all about ‘Flowers and Folidge’.   My card is mahoooosive!  A Mandy made card (I do love making large cards) so the dimensions are 26.5cm x 16cm!  I used a mixture of Lavinia’s wonderful, unique stamps.  I have used  Fairy  Dandelions ;  Honeysuckle ;  Vine  and See  a  Fairy The background was brayered  Distress Oxides Bundled sage, and Iced Spruce.   I stamped the Fairy Dandelions using V ersafine Clair  Morning Mist (grey), the Vine and the Honeysuckle were stamped with Versafine Clair Rainforest. I ‘bleached’ the Honeysuckle images using my waterbrush and kitchen paper.  Once this was dry, I coloured the flowers using coloured pencils, one dark and one lighter reds (always apply the light colour first).  I finished off the flowers using a White  GellyRoll  pen.  So... Don’t forget, join in, and have fun.  Who knows, your entr

Wonderful Workshop ~ January 2018

My goodness, a full class and a head full of ideas!   We started our day with a double whammy!  We used a stencil in two ways, one (very conventional) ink through the stencil.  Then, without cleaning the stencil, we spritz the ink surface and dropped our card down onto it and pull off a watercolour style print.  A further print could be pulled too!  This is what the team made..   Beautiful results!  We then moved onto something just a little different.  I was asked if we could have a go at Distress Crayons, so this project became a bot of a sampler... We blended, coloured on dry card, then wet card, painted with them, faux bleached through a stencil (cheers Maggs!) it was fun and very different!  Finally, with Oxides in hand we made a three layered card.  I love this look, and it seems the team did too!  It’s amazing how different they look using different colours!  Lots of fun! I’m looking forward to the next class, 24th February already!  Thank you for joining us!  Love n crafty hugs
